Instructor bios
Adrian Cox is the founder of Thailand’s renowned Yoga Elements Studio, which under his direction grew to be rated as Asia’s top school of yoga by Travel and Leisure magazine in 2007. Adrian has trained thousands of people throughout Malaysia, Thailand, China, Singapore, Sweden and is now making his first visit to Prague Czech Republic. Originally trained by Cyndi Lee of OM Yoga in New York, he has gone on to study with many of the world’s masters throughout India and Nepal for the past twenty years.  He holds advanced certifications in Ayurvedic medicine as well as Neuro Linguistic Programming and several different systems of energetic healing. He has been teaching yoga in Bangkok for the past six years. His unique understanding of the spiritual and philosophical aspects of yoga combine with athletic yet precise practice of yoga postures and breathing which has lead many to consider Adrian one of the top instructors in the Asia region.

Assisting Adrian will be Malaysian-born Shiang Ying, who assisted Adrian in his most recent teacher training in China by translating the entire course into Mandarin! With a background in biotechnology, Shiang Ying also teaches yoga and Ayurvedic nutrition. Her style is precise and is equally informed by Anusara, Ashtanga, and Iyengar styles of yoga.

 What you will specifically takeaway from this month-long intensive program...

Asana and adjustments
Be trained in the science of adjusting, teaching, and practicing of more than 69 different postures along with their names in Sanskrit and the health and therapeutic benefits of each.

Sequencing and teaching

Know how what you say and the way you say instructions affects different people differently- how to get the most out of your students though your words and voice tone. You will learn and employ the use of Neuro Linguistic Programming as a teaching and studying tool to maximize your influence on others. Additionally learn class sequences for classes that I have personally developed over twenty years of practice!

Anatomy and yoga therapy

What disease can be treated through yogic methods? You will learn how to recognize genetic versus lifestyle-created limitations and how to adapt yoga postures and techniques to bring about Sattva- a state of mind-body balance. Anatomy classes are taught in an interactive way and will cover internal organs, respiratory process, major bones and muscles as well as common diseases and their treatment using yoga and Ayurveda - the medical aspect of yoga.  

Subtle anatomy of Ayurveda and Yoga
Employing the Ayurvedic way of seeing the condition of your mind and body, you will gain the skills to prescribe food, lifestyle, asana, and mantra to bring about an integrated being, and a return to well-being and balance in both yourself and others. In this class, you will uncover the subtle energetic anatomy of chakras, nadis, doshas, levels of mind and much more.  

Foundational texts of yoga
Create the real, life-changing impact you and your students that you are looking for by learning and applying the wisdom of the seminal yoga texts: the Bhagavad-Gita, Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, and the Hatha Yoga Pradipika, as well as the foundational philosophy of Sankhya, Veda, and Tantra. Sundays – Thursdays 10AM- 12PM

Pranayama, mudra, and bandha

Radically shift your awareness radically through the traditional Mysore system of pranayama, which will lighten the body, expand the auric energy field, and prepare your mind for deep meditation. You will learn seven different pranayamas, along with mudras (energetic seals), bandhas (internal locks), and kriyas (psychic purification loops).

Meditation theory and practice
Learn, practice, and teach three styles of meditation as taught in the traditions of Buddhism (vipassana) and Tantrism (mantras, watching the gap between breaths). Fridays 10AM- 12PM

Hypnosis and Yoga Nidra
I
nduce higher awareness, state-change, stress reduction, psychological freedom and healing with hypnosis and its yogic counterpart: Yoga Nidra. You will learn specific inductions from both modalities as well as the theory of consciousness and how to identify the changes in yourself and others.

51 (102 hours) of training and practice in yoga techniques

Testing and certification process
The course includes four tests, three written homework pieces and a final graded class that you will teach to a group of five or more people. June 29-July 1st 2008 are reserved for you to take your final teaching exam. These are graded according to:

  • Sequencing and pacing
  • Adjustments
  • Verbal instruction
  • Mental and spiritual aspects
This advanced class must subjectively pass to professional standards to receive certification. However, if you practice teaching during this course and learn what is taught in this program you will be ready. If for some reason feel unprepared or do not pass, you can test again anytime within one year with one of two local teachers (who are graduates of this program) or submit your class by video to Adrian. All other homework must be completed and submitted by email within one year.

Many students who take this course are interested in the material for personal development and do not aspire to teach professionally. In this case, attendance to classes is optional and no homework need be done!

Hi Shane & Adrian,  Adrian's workshop was wonderful and precise, easy to understand and remember. I have been practicing yoga and attending workshops for years, still searching for the answer/way how yoga re-union our mind soul & body, he has given me the answer. Previously those Ashtanga vinyasa workshops i attended only work on physical body and not the five bodies, I felt it is important to understand and practice yoga for the benefits of 5 bodies.  Usually, I felt tired practicing vinyasa first series but I discovered proper pranayama and pratyahara will help a lot.
